You know what I never knew existed? A professional cat sitter. My husband and I take several trips a year, some up to 3 weeks long. I went through the whole range of cat sitters — neighbor kids, teen girls, Care.com people who said “Cats? Sure, I can take care of cats” But my cats — an older girl who is very attached to me and a young kitten still growing up — were never truly happy when I came home and I never felt confident about the care they were getting while I was away. Then we found Lauren. I really thought all the information she wanted about the girls, all the communication she sent, all her worries about safety were a bit overboard. But I could see the difference in my cats when I got home. It was like we hadn’t been away at all. They looked at me and yawned. Led me to the toy area Lauren had set up for them, as if to say “mom. You need to play with us more. Look at all the fun things we did with Lauren.” It was like they’d had a week at summer camp, they were tired and happy, not a stress in their world. I have learned so much about cats from Lauren - she really cares about them and loves them like her own. Lauren Eidt IS the cat whisperer. We have two sibling cats that are 14 years old, and we have no children. My husband and I work from home, do not have guests over often, and travel very seldom. They know only us. We finally decided we needed a break from constantly being in the same environment daily. Lauren was recommended and took the time to do a meet and greet with us and the “kiddies”. We asked if she would be able to do overnights and were pleased that she was. I am up at 5:00 AM and that’s’ when they get their first feeding, thus the overnights. They get two more at various times of the day, true cat behavior for us.
These are our fifth and sixth cats over the course of many years. We returned after four nights, refreshed, and very happy that the cats were normal in behavior and happy. Everything in our home was as we left it, the litter box clean and area tidy around it, and water bowls filled. She also brought cat treats that we didn’t know about and they love them.
